Careers
The communications and media industries produce a huge range of communications that we see, read and use everyday.
A wide range of roles are available. Find out out more about the different Career Pathways in this section of our website.
Please note: to undertake workplace training in these industries, you do need to be employed.
Modern Apprenticeships
Modern Apprenticeships, aimed at 16-21 year olds, are a great way for young people to get on-the-job training while getting paid and studying towards an internationally recognised National Certificate apprenticeship. Modern Apprenticeships usually take three years to complete, although this timeframe can vary, depending on which training programme is chosen. For more information about the scheme, visit the Modern Apprenticeships website - see Related Links on the right-hand side of this page.
Careers Breakfasts
CMITO promotes careers in the communications and media industries at Careers Breakfasts for teachers throughout the year. These meetings provide a social occasion for teachers to learn about the exciting career and educational opportunities available and to hear directly from apprentices and employers working in the industry. To register your interest in attending one of our Careers Breakfasts, please contact CMITO on 0800 654 455 or email info@cmito.co.nz
